Why this logbook

Built specifically for Greyskull LP

Greyskull LP is John Sheaffer's answer to Starting Strength's rigid 3x5 format: two working sets of 5, then a final AMRAP set that drives progression. Hitting 10+ reps on the AMRAP means you add 10lb instead of 5lb. There's also the Frequency Method (2x/week per upper lift) and optional arm-day plug-ins (curls, close grip, dips) that most beginners actually want. Tracking Greyskull needs a template that captures the AMRAP rep count, the double-jump decision, and the optional arm day — and most generic logbooks don't.

Greyskull-specific tracking: the final AMRAP set (hit 10+? Double the weight jump), the frequency method swap (which upper lift is this day — bench or OHP?), and the arm-day plug-in (curls + close-grip bench added at the end of upper days). Our template has a dedicated AMRAP column, a frequency-method tracker, and an optional arm-day section so beginners can run the full Greyskull experience without flipping through a 50-page template.

What they're saying

I bought a logbook the week my marriage ended. Six months later I am stronger than I have ever been, and the pages are proof I built this version of me myself. That book is the best revenge I could have asked for.

Rest timers dropped from five minutes of scrolling to focused 90-second resets. Twice the work, same session time. Plateau gone.

Two kids and a full caseload meant training time was sacred. ForgeLogbooks keeps my three sessions a week honest — I see the trend, not just hope for it.

Frequently asked

Greyskull LP logbook questions

What is the difference between Greyskull LP and Starting Strength?+

Greyskull uses 2x5 + AMRAP (two working sets and a final all-out set) instead of 3x5 across. It also has optional arm-day work and a "frequency method" that alternates bench and OHP within each week. Greyskull progresses faster for many beginners.

How does the AMRAP double-jump work?+

If you hit 10+ reps on the AMRAP set, you add 10 lb instead of the standard 5 lb for your next session on that lift. The logbook has a trigger field that highlights when this applies.

Do I have to do the arm-day plug-in?+

It's optional. The template leaves room for it but you can skip it — many beginners do the plug-in because it's the first 'fun' addition to their program.

Is this compatible with the LP 2.0 version?+

Yes — LP 2.0 is Sheaffer's refined version (still 2x5 + AMRAP but with minor changes to the accessory structure). The logbook supports both.

When do I graduate from Greyskull LP?+

Typically 4-6 months in, when you stop hitting 10+ on the AMRAPs consistently. At that point most lifters move to 5/3/1 or GZCL.
