Why this logbook

Built specifically for GZCLP

GZCLP is Cody Lefever's open-source beginner/intermediate program that took over r/weightroom for a reason: it gives you AMRAP sets on your main lift (T1), back-off volume work (T2), and dealer's choice assistance (T3) in a progression scheme that self-regulates. The problem? Every generic logbook is built for fixed sets-and-reps, not the tiered 5x3+ / 3x10 / 3x15+ structure GZCLP demands. You end up scribbling T1/T2/T3 labels in the margin and forgetting which percentage applies where. Our custom GZCLP logbook gives you pre-labelled tier rows, an AMRAP box on the T1 top set, and volume-tracking columns for T2 back-offs.

GZCLP-specific tracking needs: the T1 AMRAP rep count (because hitting 5+ on the final set triggers a weight jump), the T2 volume target (because missing reps triggers a reset), and T3 pump-work notes (because it's high-rep failure-based and you need to remember what you did last time). The tier structure is also where GZCLP lifters get confused — stage 1 is 5x3+/3x10/3x15+, stage 2 is 6x2+/3x8/3x15+, etc. Our template includes a stage tracker so you always know which tier progression stage you're in without cross-referencing the spreadsheet.

What they're saying

First week phone-free I hit a 15-pound bench PR. Turns out I was never actually pushing to failure because my focus lived on Instagram.

Rest timers dropped from five minutes of scrolling to focused 90-second resets. Twice the work, same session time. Plateau gone.

Six months in ForgeLogbooks delivered more strength than my previous two years combined. The spreads keep me honest.

Frequently asked

GZCLP logbook questions

Does the logbook track all four GZCLP stages?+

Yes. The stage tracker lets you step through Stage 1 (5x3+) → Stage 2 (6x2+) → Stage 3 (10x1+) → reset cycle. Each stage has its own rep scheme and the template supports all of them.

How do I know when to increase weight on a T1 lift?+

Standard GZCLP rule: if you hit 5+ reps on the final AMRAP set, add weight next session (+5 upper / +10 lower). The AMRAP box is the first thing you see on the next spread so the decision is automatic.

Can I customize T3 exercises?+

Yes — T3 is dealer's choice by design. The builder lets you swap in any exercise and the logbook leaves blank rep rows so you can work up to failure.

What about the 4-day vs 3-day GZCLP templates?+

Both are supported. Use the builder to configure 3 or 4 training days; the template rotates the SQ/BP/DL/OHP mains correctly.

Is this compatible with the GZCL method generally?+

The tier concept (T1/T2/T3) is the core of the GZCL method, so this logbook works for GZCLP, J&T 2.0, and most GZCL-derivative programs.
